At United Way of South Sarasota County (UWSSC), we provide financial assistance to individuals and families across Sarasota County who are facing hardship or recovering from disaster. Our mission is to help people stay in their homes, keep the lights on, and find stability when life takes an unexpected turn.
Through emergency rent and utility assistance, and partnerships with trusted local nonprofits, government agencies, and faith-based organizations, we make sure that every dollar of support reaches the people who need it most. This program is part of our commitment to the ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) population — hardworking individuals and families who often earn too much to qualify for traditional aid, but too little to stay ahead.
Each request for help is met with dignity, compassion, and careful stewardship. Because of donor support, hundreds of Sarasota County families each year avoid eviction, rebuild after crisis, and regain financial independence. Your generosity turns moments of fear into hope — and keeps our community strong when it matters most.
Together, we’re building a more resilient Sarasota County — one family, one neighbor, one home at a time.
